A thief was caught while trying to rob Ukrainians

A police task force arrested the perpetrator in front of the New Moon Cafe on the beach in Kedonganan. An Indonesian, 28-year-old Firdaus Putra, was seized with 2 phones and two bags.

Firdaus, a native of Pekanbaru in Riau province, lived on Krishna Legian Street in Kuta.

The theft took place on Thursday 1 October at about 10.30 am.

Oleg Fomin, a 33-year-old Ukrainian who lives in the village of Puri Gading in Jimbaran, came to the beach with his wife to swim.

While the couple were in the water, the suspect took two bags with phones and money. The couple saw from the water how an unknown person takes away their things and screamed. Passers-by came to the screams and detained the intruder.

According to rough estimates, because of the theft, a Ukrainian could lose property worth about 11 million rupees.
