The Operation for Searching of Russian Spearfisher Was Closed
Search and rescue operation of the Russian citizen, Aleksandr Che who was lost while doing spearfishing in Batu Abah, Nusa Penida, Klungkung, Bali, has entered its seventh day, on Sunday (1/3/2020).
But the search did not yield any results. According to the standard procedure, the search and rescue operation was stopped.
The total area of the search area reached 104 km² with the parallel search method.
"From Basarnas Bali there were 8 personnel combing the waters using the Inflatable boats, while the Klungkung Regional Police deployed a speed boat and another Ocean Dream speed boat," explained the Head of Basarnas Bali Gede Darmada.
He explained, the search area has been determined based on the movement or condition of ocean and wind currents, as well as natural factors that influence it.
The combined SAR specialists also used a helicopter on the 5th day of the operation.
"Referring to the applicable regulations, the search process can be carried out for 7 days since we receive the incident report, after that the official SAR operation is closed," said Darmada.
Furthermore, closing SAR operations does not mean stopping the search effort completely.
It will continue to be carried out through monitoring efforts in coordination with radio stations on the coast of Bali and Lombok to be displayed to crossing vessels and tourist vessels that cross the waters of Bali, Nusa Penida and the waters of Lombok.
SAR operations may be reopened if there are signs of the victim's presence.
Basarnas Bali received a report about 1 tourist from Russia who was lost in the Batu Abah waters, Nusa Penida, Klungkung, Bali, Monday (2/24/2020).
The incident occurred around 11:00 when Aleksandr Che (39), using a boat with a captain went to the Batu Abah waters to do spearfishing.
While doing these activities the rope that tied him to the boat was broken.
The captain of the ship had tried to search around the location with no results, then he returned ashore and reported it to the local police.
