Tabanan Will Hold a Festival to Support Tourism
The spread of the Corona virus (COVID-19) had a major impact on the tourism sector in Tabanan Regency. In Tanah Lot the decline in tourist arrivals is around 40 percent. This certainly has an impact on regional income potential.
In this situation Tanah Lot managers decided to hold a Cultural Festival with a colossal traditional Okokan performance.
Secretary of Tabanan regency I Gede Susila representing the Tabanan Regent said that Tanah Lot Festival 2020 took the theme "Tirta Kamandalu" which has the meaning of holy water from the ocean floor which is the source of life.
"The event that was initiated by the Regent of Tabanan for recovery from the effects of the epidemic COVID-19 which affected the life of tourism in Bali in particular," he explained.
Okokan itself is a traditional performance which is generally held to repel reinforcements or disasters, as well as diseases, pests, disasters and the like.
About 900 artists and dancers from 7 banjars will be involved the Okokan performance on March 13, 2020.
