Tourism Office Asks for Discounted Airplane Tickets

Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office I Putu Astawa, requested a special discount plane tickets to Bali in order to increase the visits of domestic tourists.

This measure is supposed to overcome the impact of the corona virus which made Chinese tourists visit stopped temporarily.

"To overcome the absence of Chinese tourists, in my opinion we should ask for airplane discounts. We want to attract Indonesian tourists to come to Bali. But airplane tickets are expensive and we are asking for a special discount packages," said Astawa.

Astawa also hopes there will appear tour packages that provide bonuses for tourists who want to stay at Bali hotels. For example, for staying 7 days tourists will pay only for 6 days.

He also requested that there should be meetings held in Bali by the central government or other ministries in order to increase tourist visits to Bali.

Astawa also added that since the outbreak the Chinese tourist arrivals fell by 18 percent with a loss of profit or potential loss of around Rp 100 billion per month.

"China goes down, but the other tourists are still normal, like Europe and India. Our lost potential is (Rp. 100 billion) a month. But they (Chinese citizens) also extended their stay here," said Astawa.
